Chrono Trigger DS – An Old Favourite Revamped
Chrono Trigger needs no introduction, considered not only one of the finest RPG’s of all time, but also one of the finest games ever and now it’s portable on the DS, what’s not to like? It features standard console role-playing gameplay, with several innovations. The player controls the protagonist and his companions in the game’s two-dimensional fictional world, consisting of various forests, cities, and dungeons. Everything about the game reeks of brilliance. With an extra dungeon and gallery mode ported from the PS1 version of the game to boot, including an all new dungeon made specifically for DS, this game really deserves to be played.
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow – Dracula’s Back Again!
Castlevania, the 2D instalments, are really quite good. Dawn of Sorrow is no exception; the game does what the Castlevania series does best. It continues the storyline found in Aria of Sorrow, in which Dracula has been completely defeated, and his powers assumed by his reincarnation, Soma Cruz. There are weapons of all nature in this game and combining souls with the Soul Steal ability just adds more to the chaos. Not to mention the exploration is top notch, the music is fab and the bosses are epic. It’s portable Castlevania at it’s best.
Dream Machine
Who would have thought since its beginning that the Nintendo DS would come this far? Pitted against the PSP, which many titled the ‘Game boy Killer’, the future looked grim. Yet here we are. 5 games really doesn’t show everything this dream machine can do, but hey, it’s a start.
